About Us

The society was formed in June 2007, when students of Annie Morris decided that there were a sufficient number to form a society. It was initially called the North Somerset Botanical Society. “Bristol” was added to its name as more people were coming from Bristol.

More recently it was agreed that the name should be reduced to “Botanical Painters at Brackenwood. This reflects our close relationship we have with the garden centre.

There are now thirty plus members in the group. We welcome new members as our group changes from time to time.

Members range from beginners to award winning botanical artists, who like to meet in the company of like-minded people with a love of all aspects of plant life.

Normal weekly painting sessions are available for members to come along and paint whenever they wish on Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 10:00am and 1.00 pm.

We are a friendly group who learn from each other with plenty of advice and help on offer. The committee arranges workshops and exhibitions during the year, inviting external tutors. Workshops may be open to non-members providing the event is not over subscribed.

Please see details of workshops and exercises under the Events page.

The changing seasons of plants in the garden centre are a delight and provide plenty of inspiration. They are available for us to select and paint.

For more information see our contact page.
