BOTANICAL PAINTERS AT BRACKENWOOD
I have always had a love of sketching and painting, choosing and obtaining Art as one of my ‘O’ Level exam qualifications.
However, over the years in my spare time, I have done silkscreen printing as well as trying airbrush techniques; studied sketching with the artist, Steve Lovatt, as well as attending various painting courses. This has led me to realise that my main subject interest is botanical.
Since retiring I have decided to follow this path by joining the ‘North Somerset Botanical Painters’ Society’, close to where I live in Portishead. I paint every Tuesday in the conservatory at Brackenwood Garden Centre, Abbots Leigh, which is a lovely setting with an abundance of plant material to choose from.
At present the main aim in my painting is to capture the life of a plant and I am working to find my own special technique.
